cams

Are camshafts a good mod to do to get horsepower. If they are, what kind should I get? I want good ones but I don't want to spend too much money on them. What kind should I get?

depends on what kidna engine you have....

you say you have a 1994 Sentra.....
what kind? if its an SE-R you have an 2.0L engine or an SR20DE.
Anything else.. like an E, XE, Limted Edition, Special Edition, GXE has an 1.6L GA16DE engine....

So if you have an SR20DE engine get some JWT (Jim Wolf Technology) S3 or S4 Cams.......

for your GA16DE... then get some cams from an Neo VVL (Variable Valve and Lift) cams from an SR16VE.

Werent there only 5000 SR*VE series engines made (or some insanely low number).

Also, what are the durations of the SR16VE cams verses GA16DE cams? I will search and answer my own question if I find something.

Well im new here but i am one of the few with a VVL engine in the US and i know for a fact it will not work on a ga.If you said u will take a VVL head and put it on a sr20 block then ok, but sr16camz will not Work on motors without VVL...it has 2 cam lobes per pair of valves low and high, not one like sr20de and ga....kesi24

I believe that you are thinking about the SR16VE N1 motor. I think that there were more sr16ve made than that.

you could have said that in the first place so you dont give incorrect information out. you shouldn't tell people they can do this and that to their car, w/o even knowing if it will fit or not. of course anything can work with modification. its like saying... the rb26dett will fit right into the B14. sure it could fit, but lots of cash and work would be needed to make it run correctly.

anyways, no offense intended to you Proxlamus. just saying you should inform fully before you get the wrong idea out.
