whenever i am accelerating fast, be it downshifting or what not..and i get to the redline..usually a sulfur smell seeps out from the hood..i honestly have no idea what it could be, just wondering if any of you have had the same problem or know what it could be? thanks
I have had this same problem since the car was new. I mostly smell it going up long steep hills. Here it is 10 years later so I guess it must be normal.
when i first got my car, i started racing it and driving it hard. i would get that bad smell. i talked to a few people and the said it was overworking the cat. dont know if they were right but it stoped after a while...maybe i was the first time the car was really opened up. and burned some nasty shit off....

AH HA! So they do make bigger diapers? That deceitful woman told me id have to learn to use the toilet. Well fie on the toilet! its made slaves of you all. ive seen it sitting there, lazy, slothful porcelain layabout feeding on other peoples Doo-Doos while contribution nothing to society! you get a job!!!!!
I don't think its overworking the cat per se... my understanding was that it was unburnt fuel hitting the cat - i.e.: rich like nuts, timing's off, 02 sensor's shot, new plugs (if misfires), etc.
Hey guys, i dont know about that sulfer smell, but it sounds like the last guy was right about the fuel hitting the cat or a bad O2 sensor... but check this one out....
I bought a K&N filtercharger for the OEM box on my GA16 and i hear this weird and LOUD WHISTLING noise every damn time i hit 5000RPM... which isnt too often i might add. Along with the K&N filtercharger i replaced the PCV valve rubber hose with a breather valve and a one-way plastic stopper plug (not automotive material). I asked a few people about the whistling noise and they said it was probably the one-way stopper valve opening up at 5000RPM and i should replace it with an automotive rubber stopper? WHAT DO YA THINK???????
If your car does not have an exhaust leak and the smell is coming from under the hood how could it be a bad o2 sensor?
Your battery is being over charged! Heard it from a guy at checker last night.
The faster your engine turns the more output you have from your alternator.
