It's shitty quality but this is how my ga16de sounds in my 93 nx I don't know if seeing/hearing another one helps but this is also just in neutral on jack stands.

The cams could be making the noise difference, if you pop the hood and watch the engine when you rev it does it stumble and shake? If you go wot does it hesitate or choke before revving? The b14 cams have a slightly larger lobe separation for more top end power, I would assume it would give a slightly louder noise over a stock b13, but I have never actually done the swap so I wouldn't know for sure. When you take off in gear does it pull smooth all the way to the rev limiter or does it start to get jerky when it starts making noise?

well, shoot.
You said you just got this motor rebuilt?
How many miles are on it? 130 might not be that low if the rings aren't seated yet. Yes, it's a bit low even if the rings aren't seated, but, if you've got low miles on it, I'd expect that number would come up after awhile.

NISSAN GOOGLE

Is it just me, or does the majority overlook the obvious?

Somebody ate a whole bag of dumbass for breakfast.

Why do people continue to run a vehicle when a warning light comes on or starts flashing? Isn't that a clue that something is wrong and you probably should NOT drive it?
Is this whole car driving thing really freekin' brain surgery?

Here's something new for the crowd/clowns...
"A little bit of Google goes a long way!"

Ever notice the one post wonders for info on turbo'ing a GA16 are never heard from again after they figure out the cost???

And if you can read this, you don't need glasses! :)

And yes, I am diggin' it...

Please explain how you broke your MAF, I would love to hear about it... Did you use carburetor cleaner instead of CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner?

I broke my VTC valve trying to take it out, but got a new one at Pull Apart for $6.

I would use the field service manual to try and solve your problem. If you type

sentra fsm

in google. The first two links will have the fsm's for download.

Go to the EC document and look at the fifth section under GA that says "Trouble Diagnoses". The index for that will have a section for Diagnostic Procedure - Symptom - Unstable Idle, and you might want to check out Backfire Through Intake.

Fixed it.
Part of the problem was the resonator had a disconnected vacuum hose, but I think that happened when I pulled out the MAF. I did the ignition timing, and swapped out the IACV with a different one I had. Next step is swapping out the clutch cable. The aftermarket one I have is too long even when adjusted, and the clutch disengages only when the pedal is right on the floor.
