I have a 1993 nissan sentra that had a throttle position sensor that read bad voltages so i replaced it. The new sensor should read close to 5 volts at idle but the lowest i can get it to read is 7. could this be a problem with my ecu? I am also getting some rough shifting out of first gear, the more throttle applied the rougher, any relation to the tps readings? Any help appreciated Thanks
More likely a bad or improperly installed new TPS or a heavily varnished throttle plate not allowing the throttle plate to close fully....or, the engine is still cold and needs to be warmed up before you adjust the TPS.
These cars are known for a rough shift out of first (automatic, which I assume you have).
However, with mine, when I floor it the 1-2 shift is fairly smooth.
