Thinking of changing engine & trans

1987 Nissan Sentra 1.6L. I was considering changing the engine & trans for more power. What could I drop in without making alot of changes? Could I go with a newer engine & trans? Year? What I have now is just very weak.

If you search on here, you would find many threads on this subject. There is nothing that you can just drop in without having to get new engine mounts, drive axles, ECU, etc. Search for SR20 swap on here or either of the SR20 forums and you should find a list of what you need for that swap.

there are many options not just te sr20 swap, but if you want the option that everybody is going with, it would be to either boost, or swap in the sr20. it all depends on what you want to do, or what you hae the ability to do. there both ver easy to do with minimal knowledge because there is allot of info on the we explaining the materials, and proccesses needed for the conversions. if you do need any help there is a search button or you can pm me and i will gladly help.

I know, I was just giving the most common and the easiest one. Hell, you could always go VQ35 like the 350SE-L, or a 572 if you had the time, money and patience to shoehorn it in and make it RWD.

Isnt the 87 a carb that makes 80 or 90 HP?

I guess a GA swap would make sense, 115HP and not as much grief, would need engine harness and ECU ? I am sure someone here has done this.
good luck..
