The SE-R in general is a better all-around car, and Nissan designed it to be that way. The SE-Rs have the SR20DE engine (2.0 litre, 16-valve DOHC) with over 140 horsepower and have much stiffer suspension and better swaybars. On top of that, the SE-R came only as a coupe, which saved some weight compared to the sedan models. Because of the SR20 powerplant, the SE-Rs are able to be easily modified, especially turbocharged. As a matter of fact, there are at least four SE-Rs here in Clarksville running Bluebird SR20DET engines. One even has an SR20VET engine. Also, Nissan makes a good deal more parts for the SR20DE in terms of chassis and suspension. They came with better brakes, and are just almost a perfect little car for the cost and power. Unfortunately, most people buy them and trash them.

The "little cup spilling" is the oil pressure warning light. Blinking really fast doesn't sound good. The scraping when you shift is probably synchros in the transmission (if its manual).
