Exhaust manifold bolts

My downpipe broke open, so I tried to change it. In the process one of the studs broke off inside the exhaust manifold, so I put the new pipe on with the two bolts that were left. Obviously, its still very loud, so today I bought a set of bolt removers for my drill and gave them a shot, after tapping the stud with a hammer, heating it up, soaking it in PB Blaster, etc. I got the bolt remover in, and it broke off inside the bolt. So now my car is very loud, and I have no way of getting the bolt out aside from pulling the manifold off of the car.

I was wondering if the studs are actually welded in, or if all this trouble is just life's way of telling me to just buy a header (anyone recommend a decent brand that I can get from ebay for under 150 bucks? I've heard that OBX are alright.).

The studs are screwed in, and any exhaust shop can pull broken studs out for about $10-$20 per stud. You can get new studs at most car parts stores, and put them in yourself.

I had the same problem. After the stud broke off I tried using an extractor, unsuccessfully. I ended up having to drill it out and drill out the downpipe and then using ARP bolts to replace the factory studs.
