^^^^in the pic above the arrow is pointing to my problem. Right now i have my stromung exhaust installed and everything has good clearance except that point. The arrow is pointing directly to a bracket the midpipe and a rubber doughnut. The reason i have that rubber doughnut there is that the midpipe is rattling against that bracket, and it is pressing soo hard that is splits the rubber so i reinforced it. Without the rubber the pipes make a rattling noise at 2k rpm.
What i want to know is if i did the install wrong or how to fix this permanently and if anyone else has had this prob.
.....but even because of this little inconvience i still love my stromung....

Well that's the first one I've seen do that... maybe call Stromung and let them know...they will probably send you a replacement if you send that mid pipe back... drop me a private message and I'll let you know who to talk to..

the prob with that is, that this is my daily driver so without the pipe i cant use my car, cause i already scrapped my old exhaust.
soo i guess my question should be can i fix this myself or can a muffler shop fix it.

This makes me wonder if mine hits at the same place too....I know that sometimes when I go through bumps my muffler or something keeps bouncing and hitting under the car. I felt that it was a worn rubber mount or something, but I never really examined it. I'm thinking its the same problem too. Will check in a month or so....right now its freeeeeeezing.

have u tried bolting everything together.....while at the same time pushing that pipe away from that hanger? sometimes the "slop" in the oversized bolt holes of some flanges can be utilized. if that doesnt work, i would suggest wrapping that part with "header wrap" for a short term fix.
I had this exact problem when I installed my stromung...hitting at the same point and everything. Since I didn't know what to do, I went to a muffler shop and they heated the midpipe(pipe that has the right then left bend) and bent it a little to get more clearance. Problem mostly solved...now it behaves more like andre's...only making a slight contact sound when going over certain bumps or rough pavement. I thought the reason the stromung came about was to avoid hassles like this and get a correct fitting product. Maybe it only fits like this on certain models...mine's a '95 4 door with cali. emissions.
hey barnoun, how much did that muffler shop work cost, and how long did it take.....?...... i was thinking of doing that originally but money and time is a prob for me right now cause i just put down $500+ on the stromung, and i have school.

The shop did it for $40 and finished the job in about an hour. At least it wasn't expensive to get the problem resolved...even though the problem shouldn't have occured in the first place
Typically, if there is a problem with the piece they will ship you a replacement pipe and you will return the defective pipe onc eyou receive the new pipe. At least Hot Shot normally does it this way. I would PM Mike Y. for the contact info. before I did ANYTHING.
Hate to revive an old thread but I want a little advice on something... are you supposed to install gaskets between the sections of midpipe or just bolt the flanges together with metal to metal contact?
Also, what bolt sizes did you guys use to connect the sections together?
I got a slight prob in that I plan to install the HS header and the flange on the end of the flex pipe section that would normally connect to the rest of the exhaust system (such as you stromung pipes) has a much larger flange with oblong shaped bolt holes whereas the flange on the exhaust pipe has circular holes
I want to do this myself if possible but I worry that the header to midpipe exhaust connection might not mate properly.
