I have a 93 Sentra XE w/ 47K and i got new NGK plugs and oem wires. OK? And ever since the number 3 cilynder wire "pops" up about 1/4 an inch. It looks like the seal isn't stable or something... I haven't a clue what it is. Does anyone have any suggestions to what i might do? oh and the bottome of the wire near the plug is already corroding.
Are you able to push it all the way down, and then after driving you pop the hood and find that it has popped up? Or, does it just not go down as far as the others?

You're still having the problem? My thought is either the part of the plug wire that connects to the spark is messed up or there is a seal issue there somewhere that is causing pressure that pushes it up. Have you checked to make sure the plug is in at torque specs?

Yeah i'm still having the problem. My gas mileage is about 25mpg too.
I took out the wire and the tip looks fine, i removed the plug as well and everything looks normal, torqued down. I don't understand the issue. Is anyone else having this problem.

There is a seal in the valve cover that goes around the tubes to the spark plugs. It's possible that seal is bad and might be allowing pressure in that could push the wire out. thats all I can think of at this time.

I have a plug wire thats doing the same thing. I noticed one of the metal sleeves inside the connector on the wire had slid down almost out of the hole. I used a pen to shove it back in and i havent checked it since. I'm going to look at it today and see if its still sticking out.
If you replaced your wires however, i dont see how it could be the same thing, but who knows.

I just ran out to my car and popped the hood and sure enough, the plug wire was sticking up about 1/4". I pulled it and the faulty sleeve was still in place. Weird. I replaced it and it was a P.I.T.A to get back in.
I also noticed some kind of fluid that is forming on the valve cover around the offending plug. Have you noticed anything like that?
I havent noticed any drop in gas mileage though. I'm pretty leadfooted and still get 300miles to a tank in the city and 400+ hwy.

so you both are refering to the rubber part just not sitting on the rim thats on the VC properly? I know mine aren't always cupped on there the whole way but I know they are connected to the plug. If it's not pushing up to the point where you can pull the wire off without any resistance I'm not sure that there is much of a problem or much you can do.

Its actually a lot harder to pull the plug off and put it back on than it is for the other 3. Its not the seal though. Its the entire wire getting pushed up. The first time i pulled the wire, the plug didnt want to let go and it ripped the metal ring inside the wire that i assume serves as the connector for the plug. It pulled it almost completely out of the wire. I pushed it back in and it hasnt slid down since but its still really hard to plug and unplug it... and a pain to push back down every day to keep the seal so water doesnt get in.
