I just bought my first Nissan last week: A 95 Nissan 200SX 1.6.
I've been looking into Sentras for a couple years and finally found a sweet deal on this car. $800 for the car; $175 worth of work later my car is 100% street legal and drivable.
I've been looking around and read the noob sticky at the top of this thread. I've noticed that the only quality header set that seems to be out there is the one made by Hot Shot. The Hot Shot kit looks good but it was produced back in 2001.......6 years ago. Does any other company makes headers for my car?
Also I've seen cat-back systems for the SE-R 2.0 200SX but none for the 1.6
Will the cat-back for the SE-R fit on my 1.6 SE?

Yes, the SE-R catback fits the SE. However if you do want to go bigger dont do anything over 2" on a N/A GA16... the SE-R exhaust is 1.75" so it will be perfect and quite at the same time.
As far as a header goes... Hotshot sucks, they went under or they're going to soon.. just go ebay thats about all there is out there unless you can fab one up yourself.
The first thing you need to do is get some air into the engine, by buying my intake for real short money. I'm in MA, drive down to my place and I'll even install it. And we can go over a few other quick mods, like bumping up the timing, etc. Email me for details.
hello i got 98 nissan 200sx 1.6L .Last Year I bought a OBX Header stainless steel .Is it true if bring ur car to the smog check you fail the visual and smog check. Please help.also it has no carb no.what should i do ?Put the old stock header back .whats the best thing to do?
LED, where do you live? The regs for smog check visuals, etc. vary from place to place so stating a location will help members know how to respond.
Most of the guys that worked at the smog check in Colorado, when I lived there, weren't the sharpest tools in the drawer if ya know what i mean. Perhaps you could replace the heat shield over the top of the header and make it less obvious that you have changed the exhaust manifold.
As for the header, I got a friend of mine the Weapon R header for the sentra 1.6. I got it through an internet store (can't remember) it was dropped shipped from Weapon R and it looks pretty good quality. All hardware (gaskets nuts bolts, and even a new braded stainless steel EGR hose!) and I got it for less than $125 shipped! But the sale was over on 1/15/07 You can search for it on froogle for around $350 or so. As for exhaust, we've all heard no bigger than 2" I'm suggesting my friend get the Pacesetter one for the sentra 1.6... 2" mandrel bent pipes. If you're failing emisions, make sure you put a cat under the car and extend the second O2 sensor and it should be fine.

I have the OBX header it mounts up, however some of the flange bolts are extremly hard to put on again. I am running a 2 inch exhaust with a magnaflo hi flo cat and a ebay muffler with a 2 inch glass pak and it sound like magic.
