car died, wont start, found a code

last night about 90 miles from home my car went from running perfectly fine/strong to loosing all power and barely holding idle. It acted like it was out of gas. Atfirst it would start rough and idle rough but if I touched the gas pedal it would bog out. The fuel pump was humming so I got it towed and in route we stopped at a gas station to verify that my gauge wasn't off and had no luck. Got it towed to a shop and at 11pm the guy took a brief look over it for me for free. It had spark and that was about all he checked other than glancing at some stuff. Ended up having it brought home last night and so far today I've once again listened for the fuel pump and even checked to see that the fuel line had pressure and it had plenty. I then remembered I have a scan tool and hooked it up. It gave 2 codes one EVAP Emissions curcuit malfunction. That code has been in there for a while and I've never bothered to look into it. The second code was P1105 Manufacturers Control Air Fuel Metering. That is the code that raised an eye brow. I'm thinking it's refering to the MAF but am not totally sure. Anyone know some more about this?

Mitch

yeah i would check out the MAF look at the hot wire as well as the wiring to it for cheifing or breaks. i assume the code reader didnt say if the code was high, low, or no reading seeing its a manufacturer specific code. have you done anything to the car recently? its very possible that you could just have shit on the MAF wire but just do a lil hunting and im sure it will show its self.

Other than doing a tune up about a week and a half ago haven't really done anything with the car. I'll check the wiring though however I'd think if I messed something up it wouldn't have ran perfectly fine for that long afterwards. I'm also gonna call the dealership mechanic today and give him the code and what the car did and verify that it makes sense. I have a friend that can get me one used for $50 so it's not that bad however want to be sure before I go replacing something

Well it appears the discription my scan tool gave was misleading. When I called the dealership and talk with the service manager he said it was the Map-Baro Sensor. A friend of mine got me a print out from his mechanic on how to diagnose it so tommorow I'm gonna check it out. Hopefully it ain't bad cuz I checked advance auto parts website and that sensor is about $330
