my ecu is tuned for a ka24 MAF. i have the MAF installed right now, but above 2500 rpms even in neutral the engine bogs down almost to a stall or it will do the other thing and make my exuast sound like its doing the whole whoop whoop whoop thing really fast. my scanner says its my maf. does it matter if i swap back in the ga maf if jwt tunned the ecu for the ka24's ? i just wouldnt be able to exceed the output of the ga's maf right?
2500rpm is where the ECU limits the engine speed to when the MAF is dead or not hooked up, is all the wiring done correctly and are you sure the MAF is working?
My engine does the same thing, and i'm running the same set-up. I never really thought it was a problem. Although i have grinded cams and I think thats the cause of the bogging and whoop whoop, not my MAF.

ok so the whole deal.. engine was replaced, cause i blew my head gasket and warped the head. new plugs, wires, water pump, thermostat, radiator, exuast, maf, cams, ecu, ebc...
didnt replace the fuel filter cause it was on the body not engine, but my fuel in the car is like 8 months old. i swapped back in the oem maf last night just to see if my scanner was right, reset the codes and ran it again. same thing happens.. bog down for a few seconds then the whoop whoop whoop like its trying to get fuel for about thrirty seconds, suddenly the rpm will spike up an my turbo will spool and ill let go of the accelerator on the trottle body. and then it sounds like its back to normal again till you try to give it gas then the same thing over again. oh an after i hooked up the scanner with the oem maf connected it pulled the same codes. maf an knock sensor. could this be an ecu issue. the 240 maf i have is brand new?

if it dont make me go faster, brake harder, or turn better... then really, who the hell cares.
I have a bad maf in my car right now and some how I have managed to get it working off and on for the past month or two (just havn't had the $$$ to get a new one) but grab the plug with one hand and the throttle cable with the other and rev the motor untill it sounds like it is hitting rev limiter thats what mine sounds like when it is being a B**ch and move the plug around and see if you can get a spot that works consistantly and if you do then it is your plug or MAF. I kinda hate to admit this but I have a vip tie around the plug and around the throttle cable suport bracket and pulled tight and it works most of the time untill I can get a new one.

Thanks.
After reading this post i found the problem with my maf. I had just replaced mine and it was still giving me the same trouble... acting like no maf. I found that the connectors had become loose from swapping them out. I just tightened the female ends on the wiring harness with a straight pick, then when i plugged it back in it clicked hard, and now works properly... thanks again!
