I have a problem with my 96 Sentra GXE. The timing chain has been rattling for awhile, so I believe the tensioners are gone, but the main problem is that I drove it friday with no problem and shut it off. I let it sit all weekend, and this morning when I tried to start it, all it would do is turn over,(rrr, rrr, rrr) but would not run (vroom). I've changed out the fuel filter and the spark plugs and I checked the ECU and it gives me a code of 0505, which means "No self diagnostic failure indicated." I also checked to make sure that there was spark from the spark plugs and there was. The fuel pump is humming so I don't believe that it is bad. Does anyone have any idea of what it might be? Is there a possibility that the timing chains jumped a tooth? Thanks in advance.

is it backfiring through the intake? if not then your cam timing is ok

You have checked spark, so you know you have that... fuel and air? are the spark plugs comign out wet with gasoline after you crank it?

It's not backfiring, and it does have spark. I changed out the fuel filter and it filled right back up. I think I'm going to go ahead and change the fuel pump just to rule that out. It does wine, but that doesn't mean it's not putting out enough pressure. Two of the spark plugs were a little wet. I read that if I take out the coolant temp sensor and take the fuel pump fuse out it might help to get it started.

If its flooded Nissan built in a recovery method into the ECU.
Hold the throttle to the floor and crank.
This tells the ECU the Car is flooded and it shuts off the fuel so you can dry the internals and get it started. It works !!!!
