I can't imagine that the car would run without some kind of signal telling the ecu how much fuel to pour in. Also, a maf won't affect your performance unless you're forced induction - they should flow fine up to 250HP or something...

Awwwwwww Wes, you killed it. I wanted to see his reaction when he found out what happens. Oh well, maybe he will still try and do it.

if the maf is disconnected, the car will not rev past like 2500rpm of somewheres around there. it will also stall out if you let off the gas

Is there any work around to cheat the MAF sensor?

Sure, just replace the ECM with an aftermarket one that doesn't use a MAF. No biggie. ;>

What exactly are you trying to accomplish by taking out the MAF?? What is your theory in what taking it out will do? It doesnt get in the way.

without a signal from the MAF the computer will go into "limp" mode and run very poorly and will limit the revs just enough to allow you to limp your car off to the side of the road and call for a tow. The ECU needs to know how much air is being sucked in by your engine or else it doesn't know how much fuel to add. You could switch to a speed density system "MAP", but that would require installing a stand alone ECU like a TECII or some fancy electronics and recalibration to convert a MAP signal to a MAF signal. Either way its not an easy mod.

FYI, b14's have both MAF and MAP. the MAF only becomes a problem when it is a restriction. for example the stock MAF is only good for ~7-8psi when turbo'd. easy way to fix it is with a larger MAF(240sx, 300zx, cobra, etc..) and ECU calibrated for it.
