I got a 99 sentra 1.6 and i plan to keep it for a bout a year, and while i have it i want to make it a little bit funner to drive. i already have a cat-back exhaust. i want to put cams or an ecu in but most likely not both. so which will make more power the jwt ecu or the cams

the ecu isnt going to do anything but raise your speed limiter and rev limiter with out other mods its pretty much pointless, and if you a rookie i highly suggest not doing cams stick with simple bolts ons like a CAI and a header. Plus cams on your motor wouldnt be a huge notice with out some sort of intake either WAI or CAI and a header cause you need to be able to push all that exhaust out faster with those cams... or just drop in a SR and call it a day
Never mind him, i would go ecu. it is a direct plug and play. the way i under stand the ecu is able to give something like 30whp because of its remapping of the a/f ratios.
How ever i would get the CAI and Header first.

nevermind me? you arent going to see 30whp out of a GA with a jwt ecu and all he has is exhaust. if he wanted to get different a/f curves he can get a SAFC II for 275$ which is almost have the price. plus if he dont have an ecu he has to send his out for re-program which thus will put he car out for a while... you know nothing and your words "the way i understand" your not even sure, try and give someone useful information before you open your mouth
I'm with 2dr on this one. An ECU is not a very good beginner mod, as it will only give you a few ponies and require premium fuel for it. Cams, on the other hand, are not a true bolt on because they require tuning (this is where the ECU comes in) to extract the most performance out of. I would get a CAI or WAI, advance your timing and call it a day.
when advancing your timing, you HAVE to run higher octane fuel or you well get detonation and it will ping, make sure you follow the steps the car has to be in "timing mode" get search and you will find it, its really simple process.
Personally if he doesnt plan on keeping the car save your money to mod the new car... besides fixing up something your just going to sell anyway.
i dont plan on going over the speed limit anymore due to my driving record, but i want my sentra to be fun to drive as far as acceleration.
how about that resistor sodded to the intake air temperature sensor trick sherb, will that increase acceleration?

also what about a ur pulley? and what is a SAFC II?

ECU's are not bolt on mods! Only ECU you can put that is worth it is a JWT ECU. You have to send in your old one to get it reprogrammed. Also, you will not see any difference with a JWT ECU because you have to have the car turboed, or you have to have the JWT cams with it. The ECU optimizes the VTC timing control of the cams.
