Help: 1993 sentra auto box

Same thread as on chassis, i got no answers so figured i must have got the wrong forum
HELP.
My wife's Sentra was in cruise on the 4 lane and suddenly started to race, (so she says!). She nursed it home at "about 30mph" in what turned out to be first gear. Car still selects first and reverse OK. Hot/Cold running Fluid level OK. I'm desperate ......... shes now driving my car!! Anyone any ideas?

how many miles on the car?

I lost all but reverse on mine. Tried the governor gear, new fluid, and everything. I had to end up replacing the tranny.

90 percent sure it is the gov. gear. If it goes in first and reverse, that is exactly the symptoms mine had. Replaced the gov assy. and all better. I'm at 180k miles and counting.

I had the same problem.. I just went to my local transmission shop and ordered a governor gear (about $5) and that fixed the whole issue.
