swap intake manifolds

after looking at the 2 engines, the one from my 94 (which was replaced by a jdm engine befor ei got it) and my 97, the intake manifold from the JDM 94 looks larger in size, the upper intake tubes look larger also (the lower is a pain in the ass to get off) and the tb seems the same though. now the upper from the 94 says ECCS on it whatever, but the 97 doesn't and it's a tapered with smaller runners.

now we can extrude hone things and i was wondering if it would fit on the lower manifold part of the 97 or if not then i could swap the lower from the 94 over and if in fact the 94 is larger than the 97..

anyone know?

Search this topic there is a ton of useful info.

And no they will 100% not work. Not only is the intake manifold different but the heads are totally different as well.

well, it actually fits. with a little rerouting of the vac tubes and such it fits fine.

but heres another thing... what about making a spacer to fit between the upper and lower.. and how thick would be too thick? mind you i don't care about cost or whatever since we have our own cnc machines and water jet so it wont take long to program and buzz some out.

What fits on what? The lower ECCS manifold will not fit on a 1997 head and vice versa. The intake port spacing si different. Now if you are talking about using a ECCS lower and a 1997 style upper, then I want to see pics.

If you look at the heads from an ECCS motor and a 1997 motor you will notice the spacing on the intake ports on the head is totally different.

That makes sense, snap a pic or two when you get a chance. This would allow yo to easily switch to a larger TB as you could use the remote IACV from the B13 this way. Only issue is no provision for EGR, although that wouldn't matter to me as I don't run one.

well that was the main reason to get the ECCS manifold upper on was to use a larger TB. the stock ECCS TB is choked off by the manifold which i opened up. i had to reroute the lines to get everything to fit and move some of the stuff. the EGR i have totally blocked off. i'll get pictures when i can to show
