I pulled my #4 spark plug wire from the plug, and there's oil all over the boot. I can also see some oil in the hole where the spark plug is. The #1 spark plug wire is also the same way; #2 and #3 are dry.
Any ideas anyone? Is the problem the valve cover gasket?

i have the sr20de but i am thinking its the same reason why there is oil in the spark plug area. mine WAS the valve cover gasket. more specifically the gasket rings around each of the spark plug holes between the valve cover and the spark plug cylinder barrier area. should be simple... it was just removing a couple bolts change the gasket and torque bolts back. just my 2 cents.

YEAH its the ring around each plug ..but for the ga16de...there is a cover covering the rings ...should I just pry out the ring ?
I had this problem almost a year ago on my 1999 Sentra GXE. The mechanic told me that (apparently) on the 1995-1999 GA16DE that the rings, which he called the spark plug tube seals, could only be purchased with a new valve cover. He said that he searched everywhere and even talked to the parts department at my local Nissan dealer, to verify this. Therefore, the only way was to replace the rings (tube seals) was the costly route. He said the older Sentras (1994 and prior) were not this way. To make a long story short, I bought a new valve cover and valve cover gasket and this fixed the problem...until my front main seal went, but that is another story. I assume that his assessment was correct, in which case, you may be looking at the same type of work. Hopefully I wasn't taken to the cleaners on this one...
