I recently installed the ssautochrome on my 92 ga16de.
the only problem I noticed was the o2 sensor would not fit in all the way due to a metal lip inside the o2 sensor fitting on the header.
I used a drill bit to shave some of it away, and thought maybe no one has told them about this, emailed them and got this quick response:
How about if we send you a 1.6L header
like we did for the 2.0L guys and
fab it up the way it should be
and then we can make one
for you to see if it is correct
and then you can do a group buy
I know hotshot still makes the best header, thats not the question.
The question is, if I got mine for $160 shipped, how cheap could it be for the group buy? and they are offering to fix the only flaw of the header.

you dont ask us for prices for group buys, you ask them. Second you wont get a lot of support as we are all against that company and the reason we dont buy them is they suck and have fitment problems.

I can post pictures and/or videos showing it fitting on top and bottom.
fitment problems:
i think they all have the egr tube problem where you have to kind of tighten each end down slowly to make it bend and fit. (i could see if they could improve the header design to make that fit better without bending it)
you have to bend the stock exhaust manifold bracket about 1 inch toward the back of the car... as its in the way. (oh well??)
you have to carefully bring the header through facing to the right from the bottom of the car because its 1 peice and a tight fit.
you can't use the washers where the head meets the header because the welds around the header pipes are too thick (thick welds can't be so bad right?)
are these major "fitment" problems or something?
im just trying to gauge interest here...
they could be $130 shipped I will be finding out...
heres an installed pic:

K well I'm still gonna help them improve the design for the sake of the people who buy the ssautochrome header, I know they are out there, hiding somewhere.

Help them how?
maybe buy a good header then send it to them so they can copy it? Like every header they've ever made..
or send decent material to the factory they contract these through in China?
The only people that will buy these are naive new people to the community...They will waste their money ... then have to spend more money down the road to replace their POS header...

Some people just don't want to spend $400 +/- for a header.
Especially if they are planning a turbo or sr20 swap.
I'm not trying to start a fight
if you are going to swap or turbo, you would be stupid to buy any mod that doesn't carrry over... its a shitty header, owned one, i was naive.. i regret it.

Then HONESTLY shut up about it and do what you want. You are helping to DESTROY the REAL support we have for our cars, so naturally you are going to piss a few people off, me included. If you don't want to pay the $ for a quality part and support a company that supports us... fine..... But do NOT boast about helping them or quite simply were gonna bitch at you.
I was about to purchase one of these headers. But have a few questions.
Other then being "a copy" of another header. They look like a pretty beefy header. The welds look decent, and the header looks to be of good finish. Other then minor fitment issues, what is the big beef?
Are you all angry because they "copied" another design? or because you have first hand experience with quality issues? Kind of like craftsman vs snap-on, a wrench is a wrench but some people say craftsman is crap. Is this one of those kind of debates?
Almost every company "copies" someone else in one aspect or another, just a matter of how good they do it. Question about the pricing of $400 vs $200. if it does almost the samething why wouldn't people buy the cheaper one. Does the hotshot give you $200 more worth of performance? Example, no proof but an example: If the HOTSHOT gave 14more HP, and the ssautochrome gave 8more HP, would that justify $200 more dollars. If I told you how to get 6HP more out of your car would you pay $200, prob not. Almost anything aftermarket does not fit perfectly or easily. They didn't design the car, and nothing is perfect. Some tolerances between cars are going to different. Look at strut tower bars, they have adj heims or slotted fittings. Not all cars are the same.
Anyone here have a good experience with ssautochrome headers?
IMO 6HP is worth the 200 dollars. You will get a quality piece that won't be a piece of $hit. If you don't want to spend the money for the power then quit modding your car, because it isn't cheap.

Your opinion is welcome. What experience do you have directly that would mark the ssautochrome as a p.o.s.? The original poster said that everything was fine except for the o2sensor fitting.

I haven't had direct experience, but you get what you pay for.
