Well i am having an unusal problem, my friend took my car and changed the oil on it for me while i was at work and he told me he spilled oil on the serpintine belt, i assume he got oil on the pulley as well, and anyway last night me and him were on the way back to my place and the battery was loosing power and thats when he told me he spilled the oil. now tonight i was on my way to the store and my battery just died on me waiting at a stop light and i had to push it across to the gas station, (luckily i had a different battery in my trunk)
so i changed batteries and i made it home so any how when the car is idleing with nothing on the battery is charging just fine but when i turn on the headlights or anything else the battery power drops and my lights go dim, it does the same when i give it gas aswell.
Hopefully you guys can recommend a quick fix for me so i can get back on the road....

When the car is running it runs off of the alternator. So if the alt is bad but the battery has charge it will run until the battery is run out of charge. Sounds like he spilled it on the alt. and not just the belts. And how much did he spill?
Hopefully you guys can recommend a quick fix for me so i can get back on the road....
thanks guys!!!!
Sounds like the alternator! He probably spilled oil on the alt. and not just the belts. How much did he "spill"?
well he said it wasnt too much and that it would go away after awhile. also i told my cousin this and he said just to pressure wash the engine and that will help?? will it?

Well you need to determine the issue. Is it the battery or the alternator? If the belt is slipping all the time becaus eof the oil then the belts SHOUDL be replaced.
Ok heres the results from my test on the battery with my voltmeter.
14.24 volts: Tested with NOTHING turned on (idle) 08.98 volts: Tested with EVERYTHING turned on (idle)
Items that were on during the test:
Heat and rear defrost
headlights/running lights
custom fog lights
stereo
When i got back in the car after testing the battery with everything on my stero had shut off due to loss of power (one of the many ways i know my battery is low on power)
After i had shut everything off the battery recharged and everything functioned as normal
I hope someone can figure out my problem with the results from my test.....

thanks again guys!!!
The alternator needs to be tested and swap the battery just to make sure.
Remove all connectors to the alternator AND the battarey, clean both ends of them, and re-attach. Make sure the battarey cables are TIGHT.
Then tell me what voltage the posts read with
- everything off at idle,
- everything on at idle,
- everything off at OFF,
- and everthing on at ACC.
Also look at the alternator belt, feel the underside of it, too.
And o yeah, disconnect the plug wires and try to start. See how fast the engine spins, and if there's any immediate change (like it slows down, for example).
