that hose goes down under the intake pipe and connects to this black plastic box, on the otherside of that black box a small tube connects to the valve cover. What is this black box and is it important, if not can I leave it dangling with the big hose unhooked to anything.
Some have said its a breather box and that I need to put a breather filter on it when i put my aftermarket intake on, some have said its the resonator and that i can just leave it unconnected to anything. Read this clearly, it will not fit onto the aftermarket intake, the nipple on the aftermarket part is toothpick skinny while the stock hose from this black box is obviously larger as you can see in the picture. I will seal that nipple off with silicon once i know what this black box under my intake is.
ill try tomorow morning, its very hard to get the angle of the box. if it is can you tell me what i can do about it once the new intake is on. connecting it to the new intake is not an option.
It is a resonator. It shold not connect to the valve cover at all. The VC breather hose connects to the intake. You shold be able to remove the ENTIRE box.
ur sayin it shouldnt connect to the valve cover at all but it does You said the VC breather bose connects to the intake, so when i put the new intake on, can i leave the breather hose hanging there. I really dont want to remove this box because if its connected to the valve cover and intake, im kinda scared its gona fuck something up.

Yep, it is the resonator. Moreover, it was an added water catch-all for Nissan. The hose you are talking about going from the intake, to the valve cover, should be a vent line, and its to the left of the hose you circled in the pic, just before the throttle body.
Now, on the BACK of the resonator, there looks to be a vaccum line running to the transmission possibly, but I can't really tell from the images Nissan FAST is showing me.

That looks like the center wire in the distributor cap. OHH nvm, ur mentioning the intake pipe. My 94 has 2 big pipes (one to the VC, and one behind the ECCS) The smallest pipe on mine is as thick as a coffee stirrer and leads somewhere to the bottom of the car.

the upper pipe is on wess, just didnt know wtf i do with this exposed hose
SHow us a pic of the intake installed and how the resonator box attaches to the VC. Worst case take the hose from the resonator that connects to teh VC and just tee it into one of th ehother hoses on the intake...
