Just curious... clunk clunk no startup

I been looking at sentras at the auctions nearby and have noticed alot of them look clean as hell under hood but will not start up. Another would crank over all day but made clunking sounds from under the valve cover, so we can assume this ones motor was blown correct? About the ones that will not startup, would it be a good idea to bring a spare battery and starter and hope the other bidders don't notice that I fixed it? any other common problems where the 1.6 will not turnover?

Where you at man? I want a cheap no-run. I've got a nice donor motor/tranny and need a new car.

I'm in oregon man, but honestly just check your phone book and start calling all of the BIG/POPULAR towing companies in your area and ask if they public auction the reposessions and cars that people have not claimed for 30 days or whatever. Thats what I did
