In July i added new upper and lower timing chains and gears along with the guides and tensioners for my GA16DE. All that aside against my better instincs I bought cheap tensioners. By cheap i mean about $25 for the pair. When i start it it's fine, but after about 10 minutes of cruisin if i sit still it's alittle clingy, but if i give it alittle gas and let go it revs higher and stays revved for about 2 seconds, what is the reason for the after rev?,anyways when it does this i hear the ol' crapin out tensioners. What are some good tensioners to buy? I'm not sure what the budget would be hopefully not over $100 for both. Let Me Know!

Well the ECU adjusts timing and other things at idle, so it will hunt around at times. This is normal!
I wold be surprised if it was the tensioners again, have you listened to that side of the motor with the old screwdriver method to confirm the noise is coming from the timing chain area?
If you need to buy them buy OEM replacements from the dealership.
Well that sounds like good news about the rev part, but the screwdriver method? I believe this is the first time I've heard this. I'm really sure it's the tensioners(or something in that nature) cuz it sounds exactly how it did before i changed them but not as loud, but close. I can't really listen to it idling because it dosent really do it untill it revs up. Explain the screwdriver thing and I'll try it gonna buy some oem tensioners anyways for peace of mind though.

Remember that Chains DO stretch... Once theyve gone so far Even a New OEM tensioner wont last for too long. Pop the VC and see if the tensioners are actually worn/broke. If not then it might be time for a chain..
I went ahead and bought a New chain and ALL tensioners, guides for the engine Im putting together. Its not ALL New, but close enough for me. Ill put the 80,000mi chain in the Non-smoking 225,000 mi engine when we tear apart the head, front cover, this spring. I plan to try and get 400,000+ out of it.

I replaced the chains when i replaced everything, but it started acting up in the last 2 weeks and i feel in another week it will be back to how it was. It has to be the cheap tensioners cuz it can't possible be anything else(I hope)
Mine is non-smoking at 200,000 runs great besides it being really slow and this.

Screwdriver method is taking a large screwdriver and putting the tip on the timing chain cover and putting your ear onto the end. It acts like a large stethoscope. You can rev the motor by pulling on the throttle cable while you are listening...
