I have about 116,000 on the good ol Sentra and lately when it's idling theres been a knocking noise, totally inconsistent w/ the rythm of the engine, but when i hit the gas, it sounds worse, like grinding almost its knocking so hard and it sounds like its coming from the bottom. Some people have told me to run a higher octane gas, but i've always put regular(87 i think) so i don't think that is it. I have searched on this for a while but i'm coming up with so many different answers. I took it to 1 Nissan Dealership and had some one listen to it, he says sounds like a bearing starting to go out in the engine. Maybe the crankshaft or rods. I know that its not going to be cheap reguardless, but I still owe about 3 g's on the car and I want to keep it, but should I start saving for a new GA? or should i pay to get this one repaired??? I'm not going to lie, this is my first car, and I have ragged on it quite a bit but for the most part its all highway miles cruisin at 65-70. has any one else had this prob, is it even safe for me to be driving? i have to put 60 miles on it a day 6 days a week for work so i really need some help. i hope i get my W2 soon!
