Exclamation Reading ECM through laptop affordable???

Might have been around the GA forums already and I missed it but this is very interesting.. Seems that for about $150 plus a laptop you can access our ECM's. At least the OBD-I cars. This is basically the same type information and test procedures that I had access to on the $8000 machine at the Garage.

Check out this thread.... http://www.nissanforums.com/showthre...94#post1035194

And This Link...... http://www.blazt.biz/

If this has already been around..... Then I deserve 40 LASHES with a wet noodle....

I thinks Im gonna get one.... I can do MANY things with this..***Evil laugh***

I have one of the cables/software from http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.htm mentioned in that thread. Works great on my car, OBDII, excellent for datalogging and troubleshooting.

And Ive been thinking.... a VERY DANGEROUS thing for me to do... As those who know me will Agree.

This could come in VERY handy for Crazy Idea Testing purposes. Like say hmmm. What difference does it make in power if you kick in the VTC at a different point, or What would happen if I installed a resistor in the CTS wiring to make the ECM think its running 40-50degrees cooler than it actually is? Many other thoughts Ive had about this.......

not that I'm suggesting anyone try these ideas.... But like I said it be DANGEROUS for me to think...

umm, i may be flamed for being an idiot, but at the bottom of this thread when i read it was a link for what it was you were all talking about. someone else read this and tell me if i'm wrong but it seems like this is exactly what it was that everyone was so excited about, for about $50 less...

The list of applications on that website does not mention the B14 Sentra.. but it still works good on your car?

Well keep in mind the plms site has prices in Australian dollars, the price is less in US dollars.

And yes it definately works on my B14 Sentra.
