Fuel Filter

What brand is the best OEM style fuel filter that I could get for a 94 Sentra GA16DE? What prices should the range be in? I thought of buying from the local nissan dealer but, I know they will probably charge me a lot.

Actually dealers are getting closer to afterrket prices... I myself use NAPA Gold filters.. I believe Wix makes them.

If you really care about having the best filters on your car, go for the Wix or AC Delco ones. Their oil and fuel filters are designed pretty well. You're looking at up to $8 (a couple more dollars than the cheaper brands) for one filter, depending on where you get it. Thankfully, you'll probably only go through one a year.

I just had an oil change and used a wix filter with 10w-30 castrol syntec synthetic. And I found the wix fuel filter for 19.97 plus tax at a local parts store. Just removed the screws and tubes and replaced the 11 year old stock one and put everything (hoses, clamps, and screws) back in their place, but didn't reset the ECU or anything. Is that okay? It seems to work fine without disconnecting the negative terminal.

I would certainly have disconnected the negative from a safety perspective, but not for resetting the ECU.

So since you didn't blow yourself up then don't worry about it.

After reading sentra.net, the goal of the battery shut off was to depressurize the filter. When removing the old filter, some gasoline spilled out of the tubes and the old fuel filter. Just cleaned it up with some rags and made sure everything was dry. I know gas ignites and I'm glad my dad doesnt smoke like some of his friends when working on cars.

NAPA has great filters but I like to use the Nissan fuel filter. I think the last one I paid about $15. It is also the same filter i use on my 85 Z so I usually keep a couple around,

I just bought a puralator #F43178 from advance auto for $9.88.I think if you take the fuse out for the filter it will depressurize the system.

NO..... the fuse if for the Pump... Your suppose to "start" the car after you pull the fusee to De-presurize the system. The car will normally sputter and die when you tryto start it without the Fuel Pump Fuse. Do this 2-3 times and THEN pull the filter..
