Next week I will be doing some PM service on my daughters 99 sentra. Great car I bought about 6 months ago and at that time replaced all the belts, plugs, dist cap and rotor and did the front engine seal.
This time around I am going to replace all the cooling system hoses, thermostat and flush the system. The car has 80,000 miles on it. How long do most people get out of the water pump? should I change it out while I am at it?

The ONLY thing you will have going for you is that the coolant is drained. Other than that it is not really a while you were at it item. My standpoint is if it ain't broke don't fix it, mainlybecause the water pump is a PITA to do.

I agree w/ wes here, if it's not messed up just don't bother. To anser your
other question. I'm the original owner of my car and the water pump first blew at around 80 to 85,000 miles. Second one just went at gingerman at about the same mileage.
I still have a scar on my finger from 2 years ago.
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
If it breaks, you'll be better off pulling the eninge and changing the pump with the engine out of the car. For real.

I still have the original pump with 184,000 miles, but when it hits 200K Ill change it out because nothing last forever. And it's not that bad to change.
I did one ages ago and I think I removed the top engine damper and jacked up the motor a bit for good access.
