I bought a 1991 Nissan Sentra about two weeks ago. It had set for over a year. We got it running like a top, and now all of a sudden its starting but it is backfiring, and has no power at all. Please help me. My brother in law changed the wires for me, I was hoping one might be crossed, I know that the order is 1342 but I need a pic and cannot find one. Any ideas?

do you know if he change the cap and rotor too... ask your brother in law for some more details.

If you're looking at the engine from the front it's (1)(2)(3)(4) and you should be able to figure out which wires go where on the distributor cap based on the firing order which you already know 1-3-4-2. I believe it rotates clockwise.

If you had a crossed plug wire you would have a really rough idle, it would sound horrible, and you would have no power.

Can you give more detail on what it's doing? Also if you have a volt meter check the O2 sensor and the MAF sensor.
