Hey guys...my car is having more problems as usual. At the moment, I have a gas smell coming out of my engine bay. I'm not sure if my car is unsafe or not to drive, but I still drive it because its my daily car. If you guys have any ideas to what the problem is, let me know. Currently, I have a constant oil leak coming from the timing chain area and that gas smell from the engine. If the problems are too much to fix, then I'll probably be looking for a used 91-94 GA16DE motor to replace it with. I know you guys are thinking its the perfect time for a SR20 swap and so forth, but I really do not have the time nor money to spend for the motor, axles, and other stuff needed for the swap. Thanks in advance for the comments and suggestions.
With the engine off cycle the key to the on position a couple of times to pressurize the fuel system then check under the hood for seepage. could also be a rotten hose to the charcoal canister, etc..
i get the same thing very occasionally. I've looked multiple times and could never find anything. As for your leak, is it by the crank shaft? if it is, its a pretty easy fix. I could give you an overview of what to do.
Check around your injectors if they look wet or if there is even build up there replace them or the O-rings.
The oil leak around the timing chain area is probably the front main. It's not hard to replace but they are know to go bad on our Ga engines. Another thing to do is check the oil pan bolts make sure they're snug along with the valve cover gasket.
Have fun
Josh
When I was changing my oil the gas fumes made me sick. I didnt really think anything of it. Could there be a problem? Or maybe it was just that the car didnt like being on the ramps...

Thanks for the input peoples. I haven't had a chance to take a good look to where the gas fumes are coming from, or even if there might be some type of fuel leak. My gas mileage has gotten even worst since the gas smell has occurred. Those fumes are pretty annoying to myself, as well as my passenger (girls in particular). In addition, its raining in southern california (kinda feel wierd saying that), so that probably doesn't help matters. As for the oil leak...its coming from the left side of the motor, opposite side of my intake and battery. Its on the same side as where the water pump is at. If you guys know how i can fix this, it would be great.
