PDA-Dyno / OBD-II Scan? Ignition Timing issues...

Has anyone had experience with the following?
http://www.nology.com/pdadyno.html

It has both a PDA-Dyno and OBD-II Scanner built in. Looks pretty decent, but I'm wondering how they managed to hook up a and operate a portable Dyno??

In any case, I was thinking of using it as a real-time diagnostic of the ignition timing of my B14(A) GA16DE.

I'm slightly distraught over my ignition timing now, cos despite having successfully installed the Apexi ITC, it doesn't really seem to affect timing on-the-fly. This was verified using an OBD-II Scanner on my car at the workshop. Despite altering the ignition value on the ITC, it failed to initiate any immediate changes on the read-out??

My regular mechanic tells me that the Nissan ECU actually tries to correct itself and won't allow real-time correction?? Anyone with an ITC installed care to comment??

Grateful if anyone can verify that the B14 ECU does indeed prohibit on-the-fly adjustments of Ignition timing?

Thus far, using an Apexi-ITC on a B14 GA16DE doesn't seem to offer any real-time tuning capability?

I did notice that there was a difference after re-starting the engine (or during the next day's drive)?? But it seems to be inconsistent as well...

That's got me thinking.

So if the Apexi-ITC simply intercepts the signal (as I understand it does) to simulate a different ignition timing to the ECU, it won't be reflected in the OBD-Scan reading when plugged in?

Hmmm...Wondering if there's any other way then to check the "real" ignition timing on the fly...
