I have had no end of issues with my clutch and here's my dilema.
I have some performance mods (Up from 99HP to 115-120, (117 at dyno) and 205x45x16 tires. If I'm messin about spinning the wheels (I dont do it much Tyres cost too much) i can spin the a$$ off them in 1'st gear but even reving the T1ts off it in 1st if I dump it to 2nd and dump the clutch, the wheels stop spinin and he clutch slips badly (It still did this shortly after having a new Nissan Clutch fited at a nissan dealer).
My question is. Is this my clutch slipping cos it's crap or cos the engine can't put out the power to spin um in 2nd??? I would like to think its the first (i.e. the clutch is pants)
My second Q is does anyone know if the tranny is the same and hence would a performance clutch from a GA16DE sentra fit??
Cheers in adv!!

Your clutch could be slipping because it's new. You need to drive going easy on it for at least a month or so, the equivalent of 500 miles. If you aren't careful with a new clutch you'll be pulling it back out because you glazed the disc. You can also put a glaze on the PP as well. When I put in my used clutch, I cleaned the PP and flywheel off good with brake fluid and a scuff pad. I also used a clean scuff pad to break up any glazing on the disc surfaces. And remember this was on a very used clutch, had 13000 miles on it. A new clutch needs plenty to time to be broken in.

Try starting out in a higher gear like 4th, if the clutch doesn't slip then you're fine, the car might bog and start going or just outright die, but that's ok, as long as the clutch doesn't slip you just need to let it break in some more.

Well I did bed in the clutch for around 1500 miles before I gave it any stick. But it now has around 30,000 Miles on it (I do around 120 miles round trip to work a day) and it's as bad today as it was 1500 miles after fitting (maybe slightly worse due to age).
I've driven other nissans and te clutches in them are very 'snappy' I think that the dealer may have 'done me' with a non-genuine part!!
But I still need to find out if a sentra clutch will fit and my local Nissan dealer (yes the same one) is not being very helpfull, And I feel that the cluch will die farily soon!!!

Maybe they didnt polish the flywheel when you had the clutch replaced. Happened to me at a local shop and I went thru 3 clutches in 138 miles. When I brought it to the dealership they fixed it and I got all my money back but I'm sure if it isnt 100 percent smooth then you can get slippage and probably fry it sooner than it should go.

I also made the mistake of not taking it easy on a new clutch by racing it 2 weeks after it was put in. It was slipping horribly for a couple of hours, but after about 2 days, it was fine again. Phew!
