Question Missing IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor

I've been reading some of the posts and I have a pretty good understanding of my air intake system. My problem is that I can't find this sensor! I see the circles on the airbox where the sensor mounting holes would be but it looks like thats for other models. I understand that there are two types and the other one plugs into the main hose or into the snout. I've been feeling around and looking for hours and I can't even find a place for a sensor to go. It is not modified in any way that I can tell. I have had this car for 2 weeks. There is a trouble code P0110 (IAT Sensor Circuit Failure) so that is why im looking for it. I did find something interesting though, there is a 2 wire harness plug hanging loose in the fender well on the intake side. Obviously I looked in the vicinity but there isn't anything within reach of the plug. My guess is that it was removed and lost or something. I know its only used for ODB-II diagnosis so it isn't extremely important but it is annoying. Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

I believe that harness is the one for the IAT sensor.

See this post for further reference. I have the same car as you cept mine is 5spd so i think our bays should be similar.

If for some reason there is no sign of it there, talk to Wildmane. His IAT sensor comes from the loom that into the MAF so it could potentially be there.

Bingo! That is the harness plug that I have, the one in your post not Wildmane. Do you remember if the sensor went into the snout or was it just hanging or what? I still can't find a place in the snout where it would go. I think the snout is probably from a doner car designed like Wildmane's. Im sure it isn't original since it would have been knocked out in the accident in '99. I wonder if the previous owner never noticed it and just gave up... So I guess I just need to get one of them there sensors and tie it to the fender well so the ECM will shut up and be happy. Thanks a lot for replying! If I had searched a little more I probably would have found that and could have saved an extra posting but oh well.

If your car still has the the stock airboxsetup, there is a T shaped hose that goes between your battery and the drivers side fender. It leads down to a box behind the foglight. The IAT sensor plugs into the T shaped hose. There should be a bung that you can twist the sensor in. If that fitting isnt there for some reason, find a way to mount it near the filter.

I havent tried this but i would imagine you could cut a bung in the lower half of the airbox (before the filter) and plug in there. I'm not aware if your sensor will reach that location but its a thought. Could you post some pics of your engine bay.. preferably of the area in question and i could better assist ya.

Good luck.

you are corret on the location. in goes on the t shaped tube on the end of your stock intake system. if you have a custom or after market intake there should be a hole to plug it in. mine has started to show the code. so just check it.
