Ok, I have a 93 ga, and when i come to a quick stop and keep the clutch in my car will just turn off. It also dies when I have the clutch in and I'm in first about to take off. In other gears, as soon as I let back off the clutch the car will start right back up. I have no idea what it is and I've talked to a few other people who are clueless.
my car was doing that same thing. so i straped the motor down and the pressure ring was gone on the # 2 piston. you need to get a compression test. you may have a bad ring on one of the pistons

when was the last time you did a tune up.. secondly, when you go in neutral when you are bout to stop, does it sputter.. RPM's fluctuate? anyother helpful information...

I have a 1990 sentra, and mine did that too. I first changed most of the hoses (the worst off vac. hoses), then did a vac check on the valves, EGR, and IACV. Changing the vac. hoses out seemed to help alot, but on occasion, if I don't let the RPMs drop gradually, it will sometimes drop below 500 RPM, and the engine may cut out. I did a tune-up about 8,000 miles ago...It doesn't really sound like its sputtering, just when I go to downshift the car just shuts off. I'm going to go ahead and do the compression test, I think my rings are shot anyways...when I keep my car idling and remove the oil filler cap the idle changes drastically and I've heard that might be a sign that the rings are shot. Does anyone know where to get a quality set of rings?

Theres no need to get new rings, because if the rings are bad 9 time of 10 the walls are missed up. so you mit as well do the whole motor, are get another one.
