you should be able to tell by looking at the valve cover.....
if it looks like that its a DE (dual cam) if not, then its prolly an E (single cam)
BTW: dont mind the dirt

Mine is the 1.6L 12V single OHC. It is fuel injected also but is before the direct port injection. It uses the old style carb-looking FI which mixes the fuel with air and sends it into the intake as opposed to the air and fuel meeting in the combustion chamber as with DFI. I was told 89 was a very peculiar year for the GA16 anyway

Like skoodles had said, you have the ga16i. The ga16de didn't start til 91. Basically you have either ca18de or ga16i. Which you meantioned SOHC so you definately have the ga16i.
I have a monkey that continues the post whoring through out the night. His next stop is Pete's house where i taught him how to judo chop cracka ass thugs
How can mine be carbed if I have an O2 sensor? Im confused... but then again I am a Honda/Acura guy... new to the whole Nissan field. Thanks for having me tho guys, I appreciate help

The GA16i is a throttle-body fuel injected engine... you can pull the throttle body / fuel injection system off the intake manifold easily and replace it with a carburettor. Of course, the car might not run, being controlled by a wiring harness and ECU... and you will probably have to modify the speedometre cable. I would just suggest keeping it FI... it is alot more efficient, and unless you do a major overhaul for performance on your engine, not worth converting to carb.
I was just stating that I knew it was FI because of the O2 sensor. Is there a way to change it over to the newer EFI intake manifold? And is there a cam manufactured that will work on this series engine? Can I use a DE cam?
As you can tell by my signature I dont use it for performance by any means. The engine itself just acts as a generator as well as a means to get it from point A to point B lol
