Last year I bought a set of Denso Iridium Spark Plugs thinking that they would hop my car up. While initially the car ran better, after about 1 year (about 15,000 miles mainly highway) the car (1997 Sentra, 107K miles, 1.6L) started idling funny and dying out of nowhere. I checked all the other possible culprits (fuel filter air filter wires distributor rotor ect...) and everything checked out good. Tonight I got a wild hair just to check the spark plugs just for kicks. I got one of them out it had been eaten up badly. I had a set of stock plugs (kept them for an occasion like this, they're 2 years old) and put in the car, no more idle problems, no more accleration problems. I'm going to ask a couple of mechanics about all this, and maybe some of the gearheads on here will have a word or two about these plugs too. One of my friends that plays with Honda motors said that iridium plugs wore out quick with his experiences so it really didn't come as much of a suprise when I saw the condition of my plugs. How are you guys' experiences with them? Thanks for reading.

Hi Tomothy!
I've got a set of Irridiums in my QG16DE. Seems okay to me. Hasn't been using it that long though. Roughly around 1-1/2 months only (same age as my car  ).
You sounds like well versed about engine, but just out of curiosity... is it the right heat range? Prolly you mod your car (more than bolt ons) and require a colder heat range?
If not, I think you can go back to the manufacturer and made a claim or something?
i stuck the old plugs in and no more problems. i took it out and drove while you all replied and it doesn't herk & jerk while acclerating hard and/or regularily. the gap should of been alright but it would be really hard to check now. so OEM's are the best for GA16's and they're cheap too. any more problems arise i'll post again!

WELL! The iridium plugs I have are Denso IK20's and just out of curiousity, I read up about them. IK20's are moderately hot plugs, which I do a lot of highway driving and then that occasional take off where the motor gets put to 6250rpm and the guy next to me does the same. So this is part my fault why they're so burnt up. Bleh, I'll stick with OEM plugs anyways, car's running SO MUCH BETTER with them anyways. Take it easy.

Those are your stock plugs... prices are a bit jacked up on that site but it gives you and idea about the part number. That's not the official NGK site. I had the #5464 plugs for over two years and they look brand new when I pulled them the other day out of my engine. My engine NEVER EVER stalled.

the bosch platinum? which brand platinum. NGK is the only good spark plug, get the oem ones cuz its worthless to do anything else.. if you are running a lot of mods, like turbo, there is an upgraded ngk plug, its like $11 a plug.. search ngk spark plug to get the part numbers

I have NGK Iridium Spark Plugs in my 93 nx 1600 and they seem to run fine. I do alot of highway and town driving and haven't had any problems with them in almost 2 years and they still look new! But they cost $18cnd each so alittle pricey.
Best just to use regular spark plugs, in my opinion. My brother in law owns a auto parts business on Vancouver Island, Canada.
I asked about NGK Iridium's for my Pathfinder and he said don't bother with them. It's just a sales gimmick to increase their sales. Plus, they are too expensive. He also said I probably won't notice any power increase or better mileage.
I know this is an old thread but... yeah... I bought the denso iridiums last year. I worked at auto zone and a customer who owned a 200SX claimed they work great. I bought 4 of them (not cheap!!!) and stuck em in.... I wasn't impressed. the regular $1.69 NGKs I got from the dealer worked better. but I upgraded to NGK platinums about six months ago and I REALLY like them. they weren't too expensive either, I either got them from fisher auto parts, or advance. to anyone reading this who doesn't already know... stay away from bosch plugs. don't waste your money. at least in nissans, they suck. I bought 6 of the bosch platinum 2s for my 88 maxima w/ the VG30 motor a few years back, and it had a constant misfire. absolute garbage in a nissan engine. treat your nissan to something better than german trash meant for audis and VWs. NGK plugs are what you want. working in the auto parts business, I asked both customers and co-workers about bosch plugs and seldom, if ever, heard anything good about them. on the other hand, I have bosch plug wires in both my sentras, and am really satisfied.
