2005 thump sound at 2000rpm...

Any new Frontier owners experience a very loud thump or clunk or thunk sound right before the gear shift at 2000 rpm. Here's the scenerio: I have an automatic and notice this sound only when I first start up the truck and start driving. I pull out of my driveway and right before 2000 rpm, it makes a loud sound like something is shifting. But never happens again the rest of the drive, just that one time when it first shifts. It seems to be happening only when the truck is fairly cold, I could park it, walk around admiring it, start it up again, drive away, and the sound wouldn't return. But it would always happen when the truck is first driven that day after sitting overnight. Any thoughts? I know I should take it in to have it looked at but just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this too. Thanks for the help.

It's the ABS brake system running a self check. Seems to be routine since it's on page 5-29 of the manual. I better start reading that thing. The good folks here helped me out with this problem. Thanks guys if you're reading this.
