Question 2001 Crew Cab brake light replace

OK... I give up. How do I remove the tail light for replacing a burned out bulb?

There have been some other posts on this that you may want to check, but for my '04, there were two bolts just inside the tailgate on the side of the bed that held the taillight in place (if you have a plastic liner, you'll have to pull it off the bed wall a bit to get at the bolts). Once those were removed, I just had to pull the taillight straight back (there are a couple of pins that hold the light in place). You have to give a pretty good tug, but try to pull straight back so you don't damage the pins. At least that's how mine were attached.

The trick is in the bed extender mounting bracket. The 2 screws that hold this in place also hold the tail light.

Ah, I don't have the bed extender. That's a little sneaky using those bolts for two purposes. Glad you figured it out.
