I did a Search on driving lights a while back, but I don't recall the size being mentioned.

Does anyone know the size and maybe brand/model of a good fog light for the '04 Frontier?

I think I'd rather go with a fog light than a driving and wire it to come on with the parking lights, stay on with the low beam headlights, and stay on with the high beam headlights. I think that's a legal setup for fog lights in VA.

In VA your foglights MUST go OFF when your highbeams are on.

Hmmm.... I'll have to double-check that. I thought fogs were OK anytime, but driving lights had to go off when the high-beams were on.

Thanks. I think I'd seen that post. I haven't checked to see if my XE was prewired (guess I should do that first). If it is, I'll have to think about the OEM option even thought that'd probably be more expensive. I guess I was asking more along the lines of aftermarket lights.

After you double-check me, post what you've found here. I've been told that by two different VA state inspectors over the past few years.

This is too simple to be all of it, but I guess it's at least a start... (Code 46.2-1030)

According to Paragraph B: Not more than four lights used to provide general illumination ahead of the vehicle, including at least two headlights and any other combination of fog lights or other auxiliary lights approved by the Superintendent, shall be lighted at any time.

Now, I guess if you've got a vehicle that has separate high and low beam bulbs, you have to have the fog/driving lights turn off when both of those are lit. For my vehicle (with it's single "bulb" hi/low beam combo and I'm assuming that parking lights don't count), I would think I could have the fog/driving lights illuminated all of the time. If the parking lights did count, then they'd have to go off when a 4 headlight vehicle had it's high beams on (I don't think that happens on vehicles) and my driving/fog lights would have to go off as soon as my low or high beams came on.

This seems terribly confusing for such a simple paragraph

Before I do anything, I'll probably go to my inspection station and see what they expect to see happen with fog/driving lights (they're the ones I'll have to argue most with I suppose).

If you dig deeper and find out anything, please let me know.

OK, a coworker found this link.

Section 160, Paragraph I, subsections 10 & 11 seem to shed some light (OK, it's a stupid pun) on the subject.

I don't want to go with driving lights since they can only be on with the high beams. So, I think what I'll end up doing is getting "fog" lights, then they'll be on whenever any of my lights (parking, low beam, or high beam) are on. I don't have 4 headlights, so I can have them on with low or high beams.

{Edit} Oh, my coworker was telling me that he thought most manufacturers wired fog lights so that they would go off with hi-beams in case you wanted to install aftermarket driving lights. That way, you have your fog lights for parking lights and low beams, and your driving lights with your high beams, and you still never have more than four forward facing lights illuminated at any one time. {/Edit}
