Front end noise when turning..Shocks?

I have a 00 Frontiex crew cab. When the wheel is turned all the way (usually in a parking lot getting in and out of parking spots) and a small bump is hit, I hear an awful screech. I have 125K miles on it, on original shocks. I am going to replace the shocks, but wonder if there is anything else I may need to address while under the hood. Thanks,

It"s probably not the shocks. Their have been other threads about "crunching" noises from the front suspension when the steering is "hard over". Im told it's the action of the A arms against the bound/rebound bumpers. My 2001 does it, especially on rough ground with the wheel hard over.

Steve, thanks for the info....so safe to assume that it is normal? I am still replacing the shocks as they are past due.

I would not call it "normal" but it's not unusual. I would not worry.

The steering stops on the control arms should be greased during your normal oil change and lube service. Sometimes, they are fitted with plastic caps (usually 2WD models) that sometimes break and fall off. New steer stop caps can be purchased from your Nissan dealer for a couple of bucks.

Don't Turn Hard

I figured out that if I am going to make a turn, I turn while not moving and let the wheel relax, then make te turn without moving the wheel. I think they put that in to tell us that we have reached the limit of turning. Happy motoring.
