Bigger tire question

I have a 04 frontier 4cyl. 5 speed and the height stock is not very impressive to me. I was wondering size tires i could fit without major modification. If a lift is needed to make it look agressive then what lift as well as what tires would work best. If somebody has been through this dilema that would be wondeful to share your knowlege. I also was wondering as far as some performance upgrades. I live in florida and we dont have emission checks here so not carb legal products dont matter. Thank you.

Swithcing to a taller tire will kill your performance and hurt braking and fuel economy at the same time.A taller tire makes the truck have a taller effective gear ratio, and reduces the mechanical advantage of the ring and pinion. It also adds rotating mass which is never good-especially in a low powered vehicle. This also will throw off your speedometer and possibly throw a code due to a VSS reading that is out of spec.

the tire it has not is a 245/60/15 and i see that most frontiers have a stock tire of a 265/60 or 70/15. the dealership i bought my truck from used put the tires it currently has on now and maybe if i went to a stock tire size for a taller truck it would make a difference. Is there a large disadvantage to doing this instead?

Is it 4 or 2 wheel drive?I don't know about 2004, but the earler ones had the 4 cyl 4 wheel drive option. I think the stock tire size for your truck if it is a 2 wheel drive should be a 225 70 15 as this is what my dad's 2003 came with stock ( 1998-2000 Frontiers had smaller tires on base trucks). The wider ones are on the V6 models with the pre runner chassis which adds to some of the ride height.
