2000 Frontier key fob

My key fob is activating several times even after I have started the vehicle and driving.
The other three doors will unlock without pressing the button and the emergency
flashers will activate repeated. The battery tests OK and I cleaned the contacts with rubbing
alcohol. If I lightly tap the key fob on the steering wheel it causes it to activate. I'm assuming
it is time for a new one. Does anyone know which key fob works for the 2000 model?
Mine looks identical to the one shown on ebay by MidWest Keyless for a 96/97 Altima or
Pathfinder but the 2000 Frontier isn't on the compatibility list. KeylessRide outlet lists one
for the 98-00 models for $44 US. Does anyone have experience with their key fobs?
Any help is appreciated.

Check the FCC code, or whatever they have in Canada, on the back of the remote. If it matches the one on eBay it should work. I got one for my 01 Sentra a lot cheaper than $44 and they included the programming instructions.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering what the tiny print on the back of the remote was.
As luck would have it the code is so worn I can't read it. I can just barely make out FCC.
I called a dealer and they want $120 Cdn. for a new one. I will call again and see if there is a chance they will give me the FCC code.

Have you checked eBay?

Then the best you can probably do is get one that looks like the one you have and close to the same year. Here's one on eBay
eBay Motors: 2000-01 Pathfinder QX4 Frontier Xterra Remote w/prog (item 220084815525 end time Feb-27-07 19:54:28 PST)

With the use of a strong magnifying glass and some eye strain I was able to get the FCC code. Unfortunately it doesn't match the code for the remote you found on ebay. I did locate
2 on ebay.com for the 2000 Frontier but they don't ship to Canada. The used condition one listed by MidWestKeyless for the 96/97 Altima-Pathfinder doesn't have the 2000 Frontier on their compatibility list but the FCC code is a match. So according to your other post it should work? Even if I get outbid a new one from KeylessRide with exchange and shipping will be cheaper than a new one from a dealer. Thanks for your help.

If the FCC/Canada codes match it should work. I don't know anything about the aftermarket remotes. What codes are you looking for?

Don't worry about losing a bid. If you're not in a crisis situation and need one now, just keep watching eBay. Another one will come along.

The FCC code is: KOBUTA3T
Canada code is: 1983 101 754
or 1953 101 754
Not positive on the Canada code, it was extremely difficult to read. 9,8&5's are questionable.
Haven't found any with Canada code listed, just the FCC code.
Thanks for the eBay tip.

I don't have one of those but maybe someone on the forum will have one that they would let you have at a reasonable price. Now if you need one for a 2000 Dodge Stratus I can fix you up.

Unless you're bidding on something no one wants, pretty much the only way to win an eBay bid is to over pay or snipe. I'm amazed what people will pay for stuff on eBay.
