Step rails

Hi,
I have a question about step rails, on 06 Frontier, the other day I hit the side step on the passanger side and shearded the 4 out of 6 studs that hold the side rail on the truck.
What I like to know how to remove the broken studs and install new ones, can anyone be able to help me out to tell me how to do this.
Thank you.

If you have enough of the broken stud sticking out past the mounting surface, sometimes you can get them out with a small pipe wrench, or vice grip pliers, if you don't have a stud remover. If they are broken flush with the mounting surface, you'll have to drill a hole through the CENTER of the stud and use an easy out to remove them. Notice the word CENTER, use a center punch to leave a dimple on the stud, so your drill bit wont walk all over the place. Make sure you drill it right through the CENTER of the stud, so your removal of the broken stud will be much easier with the easy out.

Thanx for all yha t info, these studs are eithe pressed in the frame or spot welded, the head of the stud is hidden in the frame on the truck and as far as I can see I do not know hot to remove them because the head of the bolt is in the frame with no access to it as far as I can see.
The studs comes out of the truck body then the mounting of the side rails and they are bolted down against the body with a nuts.
Thank you.

All mounting studs that I have ever seen have threads on both ends. Maybe you can go to the dealer parts dept and see what it is that they actually use to secure the rails with. Either that or go to a body shop and have them welded back on. Lotsa luck dude!
