For a little while now, my truck's been making weird noises... usually when I do a u-turn in front of my house the truck makes weird creeking noises and other muffled noises from the front steering... if i park my truck and I try and turn back and forth slightly it makes the weird noises again. Kinda like a muffled grinding, only not a grinding noise.
Also lately ive noticed my truck seems tough to steer, gotta use more muscle to steer sometimes.
Now that its cold out im noticing it a lot more. Sometimes if i pull into ap arking lot and go to turn into a spot, its a little tricky and it makes the noises.
Anybody know what this might be? The truck is a 2002. I don't recall ever changing the power steering, does this have to be flushed every so often? Maybe thats my problem???

Take a look at this recent thread "Slight clanking when turning left...."
fluid should be changed every so often. are you sure your not hearing p/s whine from the pump (kinda like a ford does all the time)? it almost sounds like a rack and pinion going back but you dont have that. check the system for leaks, check the fluid level, and check for bent or damaged parts. if all that is fine have the system flushed to see if it makes a difference. your probably looking at around $90-100 for that.

Yeah its not the steering stops, this is kinda like what you said, like a whine almost as i turn the wheels. It does it sometimes, but id say 75% of the time it does it. Especially at slow speeds and after having sat for a while, although it does it when i pull into parking lots at slow speeds as well. I hear that whine sound like its groaning and it feels tough to turn, almost as if i didnt have power steering.
i checked the fluids the other day, it was tough to see the level on the side, i opened it up, fluid level looked all right to me

No.. where do i look for those, im not the most mechanical inclined, better with electronics
Open your hood, and look for the belt driving your power steering pump. See if the belt tension is loose, then check to see if the belt is glazed. If it is, replace the belt. If you have a serpentine belt than check the tensioner too.
