Nissan Frontier Long Bed

I have been a member of this forum since Nov. of last year. Currently I own a 2001 F-150Lariat SuperCrew which I like a lot but am going to trade it this year for a vehicle which will fit into my garage better. The Frontier is on the top of my list but I have some questions that only this forum can answer. Because I fish, hunt, and camp a lot in the Colorado high country, the Nismo was at the top of my list but now that the long bed has come out, it has peaked my interest. My question is: If I get a Frontier Crewcab with a long bed, can I have it fitted with the same skid plates as the NISMO and is there any difference in the four wheel drive systems of these two models? Thank for the info. Mert

I would think that the skid plate would be the same for both trucks, as it only covers to front part of the truck.

You'd be giving up the electronic rear locker that you can only get on the NISMO. You also can't get the NISMO traction package on the SE/LE models.

I thought you, msubullyfan, might say that. It appears that the NISMO is the package I want. Will have to get the bed extender. What else do you all recommend? Mert

Why don't you have the dealer throw in the bed extender contingent on you buying thier truck. Wheel and deal my friend.

Yeah I guess the SE model comes with a limited slip, but not a locking diff unless its the LE model. the SE does however come standard with a DANA rear axle which is pretty cool in my book.

Thanks for all of the info. Tommorrow, I am venturing out to drive a NISMO. Then I will price it thru NADA and go to the fleet manager and find out what his bottom line is. And I will do this at three dealerships until I know the best deal. One of the Denver Nissan dealerships, I don't trust, but we will see. They play games.
