'01 Frontier S/C Tire Size

Stock tires are P265/55/17 IIRC.. Basically impossible to find other than the expensive stock Firestone GTA02's.

I have P245/??/17 on there right now, but I want to get the biggest size possible without having to do any modificiation.

The tires I'm seriously considering are Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's in 265/70/R17. The price is unbeatable and they've got excellent reviews on tirerack. I do very infrequent off-roading, so my main concern is treadwear, price, and ride comfort. These are performance all-season tires so they fit the bill nicely.

My question is-- Will 265/70/R17 fit this truck? Anything I should know about going to this tire size? Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Search online for a tire calculator to figure out how much of a change you will end up with, also check individual tire manufacturers for actual tire dimensions because there can be a difference. The tire sizes mentioned will be taller and about the same width so try them out up front and check for rubbing at full turns over bumpy roads, rears should be okay. With a taller profile you should experience a slightly softer ride, reduced steering input up front, speedometer and odometer will be inaccurate and since you're going from 245 to 265 your mpg will suffer slightly due to an increase in both rolling resistance and unsprung weight. All very minimal. Suggest a re-calibration afterwards.
