Any tips or tricks to install a new radio in a 05 CC LE Frontier

I have read some one had issues on the airbag light, but i cannot find the thread.

either way, any tips or tricks would be appreciated. I have the diagram showing me how to safely remove the "facing' around the radio.

i do have the mounting bracket and the harnesses for easy install

all you gotta do about the air bag light is DONT UNPLUG IT. otherwise it probably wont go off until you take it into the dealer. I threw my alpine in without having the airbag light get in the way of my installation. and i'm not gonna lie, this truck is one of the easiest head units to replace. the front facing is held on only by clips just pull in a circular motion, and it should come right off. from there unscrew the head unit from the four anchor points. and unplug harness and all that good stuff and put back together.

Make sure you have a good trim kit for the dash. The stock trim ring will leave a small gap around the edge of the player if you use just a pocket (like Crutchfield's "kit" they give you). I recommend the Scosche kit.

Regarding the diagram about removing the facing around the radio -- I've never pulled out that screw that's shown in that drawing. Just pull at the top of the tray above the head unit and below the HVAC controls and it should come right off.

Here's the link to the airbag light reset procedure...

Hey thanks guys. I got my mounting bracket from a local store. I will see how it looks. If it is bad, surely they would take it back. If not, it was not very expensive!!

You dont have to keep the airbag light plugged in... just make sure you dont put the key in the ignition and turn to ACC/ON until everything is reconnected (including the dash switches). If you try to fire up the stereo to test it with the air bag light disconnected, you'll trigger a fault in the ABS system.

there is a way to turn the airbag light off anyways - a search would turn up the proceedure as it's been outlined here a few times.

Shayner,

What dash kit did you use for the install? In the picture, it looks like the map pocket doesn't line up with the trim ring around the player. Is this an optical illusion, or is there really a gap there?

Man, I wish I had the RF package. I couldn't find a Red NISMO w/o the roof rack anywhere in the US that had the RF package.

If I had a 6-CD changer that played MP3s, I'd never change discs!

Sorry for the delay, i didn't have a chance to get on last night. Not sure of the name of the kit(already threw bag away). There is a tiny gap there, but it is not noticable when i am driving.

I just asked the local installation store for a mounting bracket.

As far as losing the steering wheel controls...can't lose what you don't have
