Thumbs up Dynoed my '06 Frontier

Hi everyone I am new to this forum and just wanted to contribute to it by posting my dyno chart to the forum. I own a Dyno Dynamics single axle dynamometer in Baton Rouge. My brother and I tune cars on it and since the need to get a truck arose, we decided on the Frontier SE. I love this truck very responsive and it gets up. I opted for the 6 spd manual with the LSD.

The charts below are as follows the 1st run was made in 4th gear. We made 195 whp / 232 tq
The following run we tested the truck in 3rd gear and got this result.
210.5 whp / 235 tq

210.5 whp on the Dyno Dynamics translates (+15%) roughly to 242 whp on a dyno jet dynomometer for all you guys that have one nearby. I would have posted the chart and some pics, but at the moment it does not seem like I have rights to post attachments to the forum.

I am very happy with the results and looking forward to utilizing this truck to its full potential.

Alberto

Well really on the fourth gear is the gear that we usually test a 6 spd vehicle.
This is usually the gear that is ideal for a 1:1 ratio.
We knew that the 3rd gear would yield a higher result that is the reason we tested that one as well, just to see what number it would give us.

4th is a 1.0 Ratio. I think 5th is .7XX and 6th is like .5?
Damn, I lost that link to the site that showed everything.

i would doubt that the 6speed has a .5 OD - the 6 speeds don't run THAT much less rpm on the highway... if 4th is 1:1, 5th is probably in the .83 range and 6th is prob in the .70/.68 range

Greg,

Are those figures at the driveshaft or the rear wheels? I ask because there seems to be a half dozen different rear axle ratios in our trucks, and the dyno is taken at the rear wheels. Thanks...

Just think of the mileage you could get if you swapped out the rear axle on a 6 speed SE for the rear axle of an LE!
