Throttle Response

Anyone have issues with throttle response while crusing? I've noticed it takes at least 2 seconds for the transmission to shift when the throttle is pressed partially or at full. Does the throttle sensor need adjustment or all Automatic Frontiers built like this? I personally never been a fan of TBW.

Mine shifts perfectly, but if I manually downshift to 1 or 2 gear, on a steep hill (off road), the engine will race as if in neutral for a couple of secs before it grabs the gear.

When I press my gas pedal at cruising speed, it never downshifts! Wait a minute....I have a manual tranny. LOL only kidding.

I have observed no difference in throttle response with the drive by wire system. Perhaps the automatic transmission reacts differently.

ehh it's a combo of driveby wire and just automatic transmissions... i don't think i've ever driven one that doesnt have a bit of a delay on the downshift... what your talking about is normal compared to my truck i guess though - it takes it a moment to decide on the downshift lol

Auto shifting can be a funny thing. What I generally do, to get the tranny to shift for me, is tap the throttle quickly and much farther than I want it to be. The computer first sees that you laid on the gas very quickly, and secondly, it sees you laid on alot of gas. It will then shift for you. As soon as you are done wit the tap though, go back to the throttle position you REALLY wanted to be at .

This quick little tap lets the computer know when to shift, and then you can drive it normally....

I guess I'll have to get use to it. Driving stick for 10 years straight has made me a bit ignorant. Although, I've found my wife's Altima shifts much faster. Oh well...go figure.

Agreed, It's like learning to drive all over again, going from manuals to an auto. The owners manual does mention to floor the pedal to invoke lower gears.

make a complaint with nissan, i was told that occasionally if complaints are made, changes in the programming can be made and distributed as a flash update through the consul2 system...

i find it a bit annoying that it takes what seems like forever to downshift sometimes, and then unlocks the convertor too soon (imo) on the highway...

It bugs me that when I want to speed up it just unlocks the converter and not much happens. Give it a little more gas however, and the thing drops down three gears and runs to the redline. All or nothing, baby!!

Cool

When I want to pass some one and I'm going 65, I take the overdrive off and hammer it, the pass is made in no time flat
