I need help identifying a couple of parts

I'm trying to track down a hummning/vibration coming from the engine bay. Sounds like something vibrating against the firewall, but it is not. I have tracked it down to the throttle body. Tonight, I was listening around some more with the stethescope trying to find some more clues as to what could be the problem. I'm getting really close. To be continued below...

AND A VIEW MORE TO THE RIGHT

(SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY, CAMERA PHONE AT NIGHT TIME)

What exactly is the piece in the yellow circle called, the piece with the throttle cable?
What is the peice in the red circle called, and what is its function?

Orginally, I heard the humming pretty good through the part with the throttle cable attached. Went back tonight to look around some more and checked this peice again. I put my hand on it to see if maybe it was vibrating against the part in the red circle. It was not, but I did notice when I turned it, like you would to rev the engine, which I was doing only to seperate the two parts to make sure it was not the source of the noise, I put my finger on the part in the red circle and felt a vibration. Not from the engine running, it was in tune with the humming noise.

So, now I am trying to figure out exactly what this part is, what its function is, and what it is connected to inside the throttle body. I believe the problem is on the inside of the throttle body on the other end of this part (part in the red circle).

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

That spring assembly is where the throttle cable attaches. It is then connected to a rod that passes inside the throttle body and attaches to the throttle plate. When the throttle cable pulls on the assembly the throttle plate opens. When tension is released, the spring forces the throttle plate closed again.

Not sure what the red thing is but it just looks like some kind of support piece for the spring assembly.

Maybe the springs are not keeping the throttle plate fully closed and the plate is vibrating inside the throttle body? Try taking off the intake piping and wiggling the throttle plate to see if it is loose. It should be connected to the rod by a couple of screws. If those screws are loose you better tighten them down with Loctite or Im sure you can imagine what happens when the motor swallows a screw

Hey thanks a million Greg. I've had the airbox off before to look inside, but was scared to touch anything as I did not want anything to get into it. I'll definelty fool around with it with clean hands. It sure as hell would be nice if it were just some loose screws. Thanks again.

Still open to suggestions anyone, just in case this isn't the problem
