Hey all! The only suspension work I have ever done on my cars is coilovers on my old car. I am unfamiliar with trucks so I have a few questions. I see some folks using the PRG Mini Lift kit. Is that a good kit? Also, does it throw camber off or anything like that? (I had to buy a camber kit on my car.) Also, how bad was installation? Thanks a million!
80 people have looked at this thread and not one person helps me out? Everyone is nice here, but I miss my old Civic forum. I would have an answer in less than 1 hour. A lot more people and help there.
I put the PRG kit on my truck, it took me about 2.5 hrs with a friend. If you read the instructions that come with it you will find that the steps must be done in a curtain order. It is very simple if followed. After the lift was put in I took it down and had it aligned and they only had to adjust toe. My brothers, same kit needed the $40.00 wedges or what ever you call them.
I have so far, never experienced the A arm hitting the shock tower (thats what I call it) under normal driving conditions even over speed bumps. We have here in AZ whats called 20MPH speed bumps and I have yet to hear any hitting. I do know that it is possible to hit but, you have to be near the point of leaving the ground. It drives the same as it did when it had no lift. I really like the way it looks now. I have before and after pics here
I also installed the PRG kit almost 2 weeks ago. Took about 3.5 hours but a good chunk of that was searching through my step-fathers tool chest for the right size sockets and we took our time on the first side, second side was done in about half the time. I also had a little mishap with the ubolts so I spent half an hour calling around trying to find some (and in the end I did).
I agree, the ride is the same as stock and you wouldnt believe the difference 2" makes in terms of appearance and accessibility to everything under the truck. If it had been earlier when I went by the local dealer tonight I would have parked beside a stock truck and taken a picture. I'm going to a different dealer tomorrow to have a couple things taken care of and if they have any trucks where I can get beside them I'll take a picture (the camera is one from work and it isnt the greatest but....)
I do know that my truck looks 100x better sitting next to the '05 Dakota that one of my co-workers bought. He thinks it's sweet since he has the V8...I just laugh and ask why they could only get 230hp out of it
And yeah, get an alignment after. My toe was way off and it drove horrible from my mothers house to mine but once it was aligned it's right back to normal.

Awesome! Thanks for the info guys! I am still debating whether I want to get it or not. I like the lifted look, but I like the way the truck handles right now. Hmmm I don't know.....
Did you guys also install the rear shackles as well, or can you use just the front spacers to level the truck. I do not want to change tires and wheels, just want to lose some of the rake. I am concerned that it iwll overcompensate without the rear shackles and it will look like the bed is sagging.

I want to replace all 4 with air adjustable shocks so I can crank up an inch for offroad and drop it back down in town. Not finding the application yet, but I am sure I will.

First two are in my driveway loaded with twenty bags of mulch (2 cubic ft each but they may have had a little less in them...they were free) and the rest of our crap from the weekend (all in bags in trashbags since it rained the whole way home)
The other 3 were a few days earlier in the parking lot at work.

My last 4 tanks have actually been a bit higher than I had been getting (20.x mpg vs high 19.x) but I also went from driving 10mph over the posted limit down to 5mph over (well, most fo the time) Still on the stock tires too, I suspect thats where most people are losing mpg...bigger tires.
